SUPPORT VIDA KUMIWA'S SPINAL CORD SURGERY

5000 DOLLARS NEEDED TO REPAIR VIDA'S SPINA BIFIDA AT HOLY FAMILY HOSPITAL TECHIMAN GHANA

SUPPORT VIDA'S SPINAL CORD SURGERY  (SPINA BIFIDA REPAIR )

Take a Look at Vida Kumiwaa's health condition.

The above named 20 year old young adult has been seen on several occasions at the Holy Family Hospital in Techiman,  Ghana.

We got to know about Vida's condition through a friend who has seen her daily challenges.

Throughout Vida's life she has no control over when to urinate or ease herself. The urine and stool come out without her control or she being aware (involuntarily). This makes it very difficult to mingle with others and obviously going to affect any chance of her getting married. She struggled through  Primary school and JHS amidst teasing and rejection ; currently a seamstress apprentice.

A bold step was taken by Shepherds Ghana to know what was really her medical condition.

Finally the silence was broken and according to Dr Asibey as attached to to this story, Vida has Occult Spina Bifida; a condition which exist from birth that affects the spinal cord making Vida lose control of the muscles that controls the opening and closure of her anus and urinary bladder. The loss of control allows the free flow of their respective content.

She also has Ectopic ureters (abnormal positioning of her ureters)

From Doctor Asibey, the Snr Specialist at the Paediatric Unit, we need an estimated amount of *18000 Ghana Cedis* for our young sister to be healthy again. This amount include:

MRI of Lumbo Sacral Spine ....1000

Examination Under Anaesthesia (EUA) and Cystoscopy.... 2000

Repair of Spina Bifida. ... 10, 000

Follow up care .... 5000

We wish to however plead on behalf of our friend and sister, Vida Kumiwaa and her family for any little assistance to support her to undergo this surgery to repair her Spina Bifida.

Thank you for helping her for the sake of God and humanity.

A VISIT TO VIDA

shepherd's visit to Vida

A young lady called Vida kumiwaa was presented to a group called shepherd's rod foundation by Holy family hospital. This lady has a condition called Occult spina bifida and ectopic uterus from birth.

She is a beautiful lady with a wonderful smile which is so infectious. To topple it, she has a good sense of humour but her condition has made life very unbearable. To explain a little, her condition means she has no sense of awareness of when to urinate or pass stool and might not be able to conceive and begot children because of the ectopic uterus.  It's sad she has lived through moments of embarrassment and ridicule at school and even with friends until she secluded herself from people. She has contemplated death a number of times but has not been successful with her attempts.

Hmmmm, all she needs is surgery to correct the defect and she can be as normal as possible but financial constraints is the problem now. Her surgery is estimated by the surgeons to cost 18,000 cedis. This is a lot and we are appealing to you to generously help Vida who didn't not decide to be born this way but finds herself like that. She needs to live and to smile.

You do not need to give out millions but the little hundreds to help put a smile on her face.
